Most people don't realise that photos that come off digital cameras or that are scanned are way too large to email without making them smaller first. Below are a couple of methods for emailing photos successfully in an email.
If you want to send photos that are very large, or came directly off a camera onto your computer, you should use Method 2, as this method resizes (makes smaller) the photos for you. If you want to send photos that you know are already an ok size to email (for example, somebody already emailed them to you), you can use Method 1. Method 1: Say you know that the pictures you want to send are already a size that’s ok to email, for example, if somebody had already sent them to you and you had no trouble getting them and saving them. You can "attach" the photos straight to an email, as follows: - Begin writing a brand new email, filling in who you are sending it to, the subject, etc. - Click the "Attach" button on the toolbar (it looks like a big paperclip - you may need to make your window bigger so you can see all the buttons) - A window appears where you can then select your photos (it usually defaults to looking in the My Documents folder). You can add the photos one at a time, or select a few (again holding down the Ctrl key to highlight more than one) before clicking the Attach button at the bottom right of this window. You should then see below the Subject line in your email a line that’s says "Attach:" and lists the file names and their sizes. Method 2: If, for example, you want to send photos you have in your My Documents folder (for example, the photos we saved there from the email the other day), the best way is like this: - Open the folder where the photos are (for example, My Documents) - When you can see the photos you want to send, select them (you can select more than one photo at a time by holding down the "Ctrl" key while you left click each picture once) - Once you have selected the photos (ie. they are highlighted), Right click once on any one of them, from the menu that appears choose "Send To", then from that menu choose "Mail Recipient". - In the box that pops up make sure you choose "Make all my pictures smaller" then click OK - The new email box comes up and you can fill it in as normal (ie. To:, subject etc) The subject and main part of the email gets filled in automatically with the picture names; it's best to just clear all that out and type in whatever you like.
