Remove Nasty Malware Yourself! |

A few weeks back I mentioned the increasing infections by pretend or fake anti-virus scams on peoples PCs. This has only increased since then keeping us very busy. However in ninety percent of instances this can be resolved by the user with minimal effort. I might be doing myself out of a few callout dollars here but in the interests of education the following method will get rid of nearly all current spyware and malware, and particularly fake anti-virus malware. First, boot your PC into safe mode by pressing the F8 key on your keyboard once per second as soon as you turn on your PC (there is a particular point to press F8 but its too difficult to explain so repeatedly pressing it once per second is easier). You should then be prompted with a white menu on black screen with options such as "Safe Mode", "Safe Mode with Networking" etc. Choose "Safe Mode with Networking". When asked if you want to proceed to work in Safe Mode, say yes. You are now at a basic desktop. Load up Internet Explorer and go to www.malwarebytes.org. Download and install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (note if your PC/laptop connects wirelessly you probably won't be able to use this method as you won't be able to get an internet connection in safe mode. You must connect your PC/laptop to your broadband modem with a network cable). Perform a full scan with this software. Click Show Results, then click Remove Selected. Reboot and your PC should be clean again. Do a scan with your normal anti-virus software then as well. Voila!
