Replacing Faulty Hard Drives |

Just a word of warning. If you take your PC to a computer company and they need to replace the hard drive as yours has failed, make sure you ask them to wipe the drive entirely or destroy it. This is especially important for PCs under warranty where the computer business replaces your faulty drive with a new one, then they send the faulty one back to the manufacturer under their warranty. Quite often the manufacturer is able to repair these drives, and they send them back to the computer company marked "Certified Repaired" and they have a warranty again. However, repairing these drives does not always mean the removal of the data that was on them! I have received replacement drives from Seagate this week, certified repaired, which contain some random persons complete Windows installation including their My Documents. You can't be too careful with your data, even on a seemingly broken hard drive.
