Webmail Account Hacking Scam |

In the past twenty four hours I've had two clients ring me as their Yahoo, Hotmail and Windows Live email accounts had been hacked, and the hackers are using them to send out fake emails as follows: I'm sorry for this odd request because it might get to you too urgent but it's because of the situation of things right now,I'm stuck in united kingdom with family right now,we came down here on vacation ,we were robbed, worse of it was that our bags, cash , credit cards and cell phone were stolen off us at GUN POINT, it's such a crazy experience for us, we need help flying back home, the authorities are not being 100% supportive but the good thing is that we still have our passport but don't have enough money to get our flight ticket back home, please i need you to loan me some money, i will refund you as soon as I'm back home, i promise.
If your email is hacked like this there is basically nothing you can do to remedy the situation. You may be able to get through to someone at Microsoft or Yahoo but chances are your account is gone. Some pointers to avoid this: - Never use a free webmail service for your business email.
- Never click on any link anywhere that purports to be from Yahoo or Hotmail which takes you to "their" website to enter your logon details. Only enter your logon details if you have opened up Internet Explorer and clicked on your favourite or typed in www.hotmail.com etc yourself.
- Use good passwords. Always use a number, and a mix of upper and lowercase, and avoid names, words and dates.
- Always have a backup of your business and personal contacts so if anything like this does happen you are able to access your contact list and contact them all advising what has happened.
