Welcome to the N-Tech Solutions Customer Newsletter for December 2008 (and Merry Christmas!) by Nathan Woodcock As part of our commitment to providing an IT service that is professional, straight-talking and enjoyable we publish this newsletter every month or so to keep in touch, have some fun and maybe even point out a few handy computer related things. If you'd prefer not to receive this email simply click the unsubscribe link at the bottom on this newsletter. This month we're doing our bit for the economy by attempting to stimulate your spending in the lead up to Christmas. Haha! See our Christmas specials later in the newsletter and do your bit for the country and buy some stuff :) But seriously, our heartfelt thanks go to all our customers for their support over the first year or so of N-Tech Solution's life. It is you who have ensured we will be here for the long term and have made the job so enjoyable and rewarding. On behalf of the N-Tech family we wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas and prosperous New Year. Noah Woodcock pondering N-Tech's future and hoping for another Wiggles concert!

Scheduled Onsite Backup Service... by Nathan Woodcock Are you one of the many businesses who know they should have an offsite backup schedule and procedure, and maybe even had one set up, but just keep forgetting to do it or to take the backup drive offsite with you? I can name three of my business clients off the top of my head who fall into this category - having had no problems in years they are lulled into a false sense of security, despite me prompting them every time I go onsite. Could your business recover if you lost all of your client documents and data in a fire or theft? We will, on a weekly or monthly basis, come into your office, perform the backup onto a hard drive of ours, and store it securely at our premises. Priced from $50 per month it's cheap peace of mind. Alternatively as mentioned last newsletter if you just have a relatively small amount of data you want to backup offsite (such as Quickbooks or MYOB) we can arrange an automatic upload of the data every week or month to our secure servers.
Storm Season... by Nathan Woodcock On Wednesday and Thursday of this week work was very quiet, allowing me to catch up on some remote jobs and paperwork. Thursday evening we had a good old summer storm with some spectacular lightening. Friday morning the phone was ringing red hot with people whose computers, broadband modems or monitors were no longer working. By midday I had been to six businesses, every one affected by the storm. Some of these places didn't even have blackouts, they just had power fluctuations, lights dimming etc. This variation in voltage is bad news for your computer and electrical equipment - you don't need a surge to cause delicate electronics to play up or fail. The best way to protect your equipment is to invest in a UPS (uninterruptible power supply, basically a big battery) that also has voltage regulation. This means the UPS can always provide a steady power feed to equipment connected to it in the event of outages or fluctuations or surges. Priced from just $140 they quickly pay for themselves.
