If you 've listened to the news leading up to April first you probably heard all the concern about the Conficker virus, which has been sitting on infected computers from any time after October last year with a trigger to launch its malicious before on April 1. Well the world didn't end, but this doesn't mean that the threat has passed. Many machines will still be infected and can be brought into action at a later date with acommand from the virus maker.
Typically these kinds of viruses are used to lauch Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, meaning they will flood a targetted website with traffic, bringing it down. Often a demand for payment to stop the attack follows. If you are one of those clever people who keeps your Windows system up to date with Windows updates (www.windowsupdate.com) and also runs an up to date antivirus program you are almost certainly safe from harm.. If you'd like to be sure though you can use the links below to determine if Conficker is on your system, and if so, remove it. Click the first link below ands you should be taken to a webpage and see six images. If you can't see all six images then you may have the conficker worm.
