November Update PDF Print E-mail

What a crazy 6 weeks we've had!  We decided to move house last month (we're renting) however this also involves moving the N-Tech office and the workshop/testbench, transferring business phones, broadband etc.  A big job but it seemed to go pretty smoothly with not too much disruption for the twins (who are 6 months old now) and our 2.5 year old loves the new house.

Those of you who have read this months newsletter (sign up for it via our Contact Form)  will know we're looking for an additional contractor to help out on the onsite home jobs we do.  We're hoping to be able to take someone on permanently in the new year but for now if you know someone who is good at home computer support, reliable and friendly then put them in touch with us.

The Noosa Civic expansion debate goes on.  Stockwell is mad keen to get the huge expansion underway while many local residents and businesses are against the plan that would see amongst others a Myer in Noosa, negating the need to travel to Maroochydore for northern Sunshine Coast residents.  I can see the appeal of that but do we have the population at this end to sustain it?  Watching the tenants in the existing Noosa Civic over the past couple of years and you might doubt it - many businesses have started up and gone bankrupt or ceased trading, even big players like Starbucks couldn't turn a profit.  This is no doubt partly due to the huge rents tenants pay in there, and I doubt a new expansion is going to change that.  Based on some of the still empty tenancies at the Stockwell development at Poinciana Place, Tewantin (where Woolies is), a couple having been empty since it was built years ago,  Stockwell seems to prefer to have them sit empty rather than drop the rents to encourage small business.  I enquired on those leases some months back and nearly fell over at the price.

On a brighter note, if this Spring is anything to go by we could be in for a hot summer.  This will be great for tourism - many of the Sunshine Coast resorts I look after have been doing very well with their bookings which is fantastic for them and the area overall.  Long may it continue!

Talk to you soon.
