Summer is nearly over. Only one more day then we head on into Autumn, although Autumn is a beautiful time of year here too. The changeover for me is spoilt a little though as I have to spend the last day of February reconciling last quarter’s accounts and submitting the BAS to the ATO before the 2nd March. This is made more tricky as on Sunday I'm flying to Western Australia to do an onsite in Derby, in the Kimberly Region northeast of Broome.
I'm installing some new PCs (that we supplied) in the local radio station there, performance audio workstations obtained from a government grant. It might seem a long way to go to do an onsite but we've worked with the manager of the station when she ran another station here on the Sunshine Coast and she was impressed enough with us that it's worth it to her to fly me out to do the work out there. We're pretty proud of that, and even though I lose a days work to travel our business is as much about experience and the people we work with as it is about making money and computers.
Finding a decent computer company or technician you can trust is a tricky thing, akin to finding a good builder or mechanic. You don't ever want that uneasy feeling you get with some people, where you pay for a job and even though you can't put your finger on it you have a vague notion that somewhere you're being ripped off, or haven't been told the complete truth. In all trades ideally you find someone who can communicate clearly to you, so that even if you don't understand the technical side, you still get a good understanding of what is going on. Combine that with good service and fair prices and you have a recipe for trust and importantly an ongoing relationship that is more than the sum of the last invoice. That's what we strive for, and why 90% of our business is still word of mouth, and why we are growing our customer base every week.
